Important Notice on Portable Tier 1 & 2 Diesel Engines!

4/5/2021

Portable Tier 1 diesel engines that are 750 and higher horsepower and Tier 2 diesel engines manufactured prior to 2009 have a phase-out deadline of December 31, 2021.

Designate as low use (200 hours or less) at least 6 months before the phase-out date to exclude from phase-out. For Tier 3 engines registered in PERP, low use engine designation can only be done in January of any year prior to the phase-out. Don’t wait until the last minute – late designations will not be accepted.

For engines permitted by the SLO County Air Pollution Control District (District), submit an application to modify the existing Permit to Operate by the deadlines listed in the flyer link below.

Application forms are available on www.slocleanair.org.
