On March 28, 2012 the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District's Board approved the GHG thresholds and instructed staff to report back in one year on the implementation and progress.

Conoco Phillips Refinery Throughput Increase
In 2011, an EIR was prepared for the Conoco Phillips Refinery throughput increase. The public comment period ended November 1, 2011. The lead agencies are currently responding to public comments. More 
Budget Update
A summary of the Air Pollution Control District's Proposed FY 2012-2013 Budget is available for public review at their office, located at 3433 Roberto Court, San Luis Obispo, California, beginning April 20, 2012 (weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m). The budget request of $4,387,958 for Fiscal Year (FY) 2012-2013 represents a 7% decrease to the current budget for FY 2011-2012. Copies of the budget summary and the schedule of District fees will also be available for review at the public libraries in Arroyo Grande, Atascadero, Morro Bay, Nipomo, Paso Robles, and San Luis Obispo during their normal business hours.

"When We Commute" APCD's First Music Video
APCD has collaborated with the Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition and Brett "Mr. Eco" Edwards, the Environmental Rap Superhero, to produce a short 2 minute music video. The video titled, "When We Commute" promotes clean commuting options and alternative fueled vehicles. The video was submitted to the SLO Green Shorts Film Festival on March 11 and won first place! The film also won 2 awards at the Santa Barbara Film Festival. See the video here!

Burn Permit Program
As of November 14, 2011, burn season has been officially declared open. The APCD has made the following changes to the Agricultural and Backyard Burn Permit Program.
- Agricultural and Backyard Burn Permit fees for the 2011/2012 season are now $50.
- Burn Permit Applications are available at many locations including all Agricultural Commissioner offices; most libraries; Avila, San Miguel and Nipomo CSD offices and at the APCD. Please click here for a list of locations.
- Mail-in Only Burn Permit Applications are also available to download.
- Burn Applications will no longer be available at CAL FIRE stations in SLO County.
All burning requires a permit from the APCD prior to conducting the burn. More 
Board Adopts Coastal Dunes Dust Control Rule
At the November 16 meeting, the APCD Board approved the Coastal Dunes Dust Control
Rule 1001 to require implementation of dust control measures on coastal dunes where vehicle activity occurs.

Old Car Buy-Back Program
The APCD old car buy-back program is now open for vehicles 1992 and older that have been registered in SLO County for the past two years. $800 will be provided to the first 175 vehicle owners who meet program criteria. Call 800-717-7624 to participate.
