The San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) School Bus Replacement and Retrofit Program application deadline has been extended to June 15, 2018. This program provides funding to public school districts to help reduce children’s exposure to smog-forming and cancer-causing pollution by replacing and retrofitting school buses.
New this year!
Old buses with engines of any model year may be eligible for replacement.
Buses powered by optional low-NOx (CNG) engines are eligible for additional funding up tp $200,000.
Zero-emission (all electric) buses are eligible for additional funding, that when matched with ARB HVIP funds will cover up to 100% of the cost of the bus. For more information on the HVIP program, click here, or contact your new school bus dealer.
In addition to school bus replacements, the program will provide funding for the following:
The purchase and installation of an ARB-verified level 3 diesel emission control system on public school buses equipped with 1987 or newer engines.
The replacement of on-board compressed natural gas tanks on public school buses which are near the end of their service life.
Alternative fuel infrastructure to facilitate fueling of a new alternative fuel school bus.
Refueling infrastructure maintenance.
