National Bike Month

May was Bike Month, a San Luis Obispo County and national celebration of human-powered transportation. Bike Month 2007 encourages people of all ages and abilities to ride bicycles to their destinations instead of driving. This year’s Bike Month theme is "Shift Gears." May is the time to shift away from air pollution and traffic and shift into a healthy lifestyle.

Clean Air Month

In California and nationwide, environmental organizations and governmental agencies promote the month of May as Clean Air Month in recognition of the health value of good air quality.  During this month, public events and activities by national, state and local groups and agencies help to remind citizens how air pollution affects our health and environment, and how important it is to preserve and protect air quality.  The APCD will have a booth at Farmers Market in San Luis Obispo, throughout the month.  This year focus was on Climate Change and encouraged individuals to measure and reduce their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
